Record Release Date Set

I almost can’t believe it but we FGs are laying down the final overdubs for our 10 track album debut.  It has certainly been challenging over the past few months to get this thing cookin just right… but we are stoked to finally be near the finish and it sounds NUTS.  We can’t wait for you to shove it in your dirty ipod pants.

They’ve shown us a ton of support over the past year and were proud to announce that our record release party will be hosted by our good friends at Clash Bar in Clifton, NJ.  Please set an event reminder on this magical date:

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

We have a VERY exciting line-up planned.  You can expect this night to fly way off the chain and drift into some foreign alien ozone.  Joining us on this very special rock and roll event:

  • Killing the Messenger -  female fronted, 6-piece rock and roll monster with tons of dope energy.
  • I am the Heat – awesome dance party garage rock coming from Brooklyn, NY.
  • Black Water – you know them… former members of the meltdowns reassembled and re-imagined, with a killer batch of new tunes.
  • DJ Turnstyle – underground spinning at its finest.  DJ Turnstyle will be pulling the rarest, illest records out in between bands and lead us into temptation for the remainder of the night with even ILLER shit.

We’re as amped to play as much as we are amped to hear all these great bands.  Stay tuned for additional details as we complete our record…  MARK YOUR CALENDAR, TAKE OFF WORK, GET A BABY SITTER, PUT IN A FULL 8 THE NIGHT BEFORE.. AND SEE YOU JULY 11TH. PEACE!

Boro 6

boro6pic

We’d like to let ya’ll know that we are excited to be playing the Boro 6 Indie Music Fest this summer.  All type of bands from northern NJ and the like converging upon some chill local hangs to clang mugs and rock out.  Festival runs from June 18th thru June 21st.  With over 25 bands in order it should be a fuckin blast.

From the B6IMF website:

Boro 6 Indie Music Fest is a grassroots music event created by a community of musicians, dedicated to showcasing the spirited North Jersey area live music scene. Boro 6 takes place in Montclair & Bloomfield and features over 25 local NJ/NYC independent music acts packed in 4 nights; supported by Deivito, Tierney’s Tavern, Cafe Eclectic, and Multi Media Arts Center.

We will be performing Friday, June 19th at Tierneys Tavern (Montclair, NJ.)  We are expected to close out the night around midnight.  4 other bands will be joining us including our friends Ben Franklin (check em out they rock.)  For a full itinerary of the festival stop by the Boro 6 website.  All set?… GO. PARTY.

good take… do it again.

crosbyI’m comin at you with a studio update.  For the past month or so we’ve been drillin pretty hard on our rhythm tracks and are proud to say that we’ve completed the foundation of our album. Over the next few days we will be upgrading our rig in preparation for the remainder of our sessions… which include tracking vocals, overdubs and mixing.  If you were curious, our record is a self recorded effort with both Jackie and I taking responibility of engineering duties.  We are recording it at our own studio/rehearsal space with a bunch of pretty good gear we’ve collected over the years.  Depending if Quan still has the sniffles or not… vocal sessions should start early next week.  Oh and FYI:  a ‘Crosby’ is the new ‘dB’.  Start using it.  Something like ‘hey, i want that solo to cut… can you put it up a few more Crosby?’ See?  It just feels better.

A Letter from Joey Levels

- i just received this electronic letter from Mister Levels himself:

Dear Jackie

A new Frozen website – very exciting.  I felt it was only right to offer my best wishes to the Frozen Gentlemen as they complete their recording work.  I can’t wait to hear the finished product.  I’m sure everyone is going to love it down here in the South.  The site looks great and I’ll be spreading the word throughout the southern states.  Please give my regards to Mido and Quan and tell H. Charter that I hope we get to meet soon.

Kilkenny/Rocker Tycoon

Last week we rocked out at Kilkenny’s in Newark, NJ.  We’d like to thank Jen, Kikenny’s promoter for asking us to play for her birthday bash.  It was a great time… mad heads went ape shit while we were there.  We also got some cool feedback from a dude named Zac Clark.  Zac runs a blog called Rocker Tycoon that aims to shed light on the local music happenings in NJ.  Check out his review of our show… it’s got some righteous shots and maybe you’ll discover some new tunage on his site.  Below are some shots from the show.  Kudos to luke at Metal Disco for the pics.

Currently, we are recording our debut album with our drummer Mr. Linden Charter.  As of now, it will be a 10 track album of our current set that we’ve been playing over the past year or so since our time with hollywood.  We’re aiming for a mid-june release and hoping to pull a couple of singles for 7″ splits with some over our friends.  FG will be playing many shows this summer including gigs up and down the east coast in support of our recording efforts.  If you can help us book shows (especially outside NJ/NYC) please get at us… we’d appreciate any help.  We’re all pretty amped over here at studio and cant wait to share our record with you upon its completion. WINDWORM.

Frozen Gentlemen.com 2009

Sup ya’ll…

Welcome to our new website.  I felt it was necessary to move our operations to our own domain name for a couple of reasons.  One, myspace has become a spam infested dump hole.  As a music fan, I find the music players on there to be half-assed, the ads everywhere distracting and overall vibe of the site cold and lame.  Facebook is fun but not really meant for bands.  If someone wants to peep us they shouldn’t have to wait for one of us to approve them.  Wack.  Aside from those issues, back circa 2005 we used to run a website called putzes.net.  In addition to our music, we served a bunch of original video content.  Mini shorts and things… stuff that we’d like to bring back.  Putting these kind of things up on these impersonal social network sites never felt right to me.  I think bringing back this content and making it available exclusive to our own site makes more sense.  I’ve been the owner of this domain for a few years and it has just been sitting here… waiting I guess.  This is our new home.  Frozen Gentlemen to you direct with no bullshit.  We’ll be posting all our show updates, music/recording updates and other misc shenanigans here.  We’ll still post updates elsewhere on the internet but I would make this site a first stop if you wanna see what we’re up to.  That being said, this site is a work in progress.  Expect things to move and around and change all the time.  2009 feels good, we got lots to give.

Stay tuned,

Mido/FG
