Patrick Hambrecht / Flaming Fire:
…one of the best bands I’ve seen in the last year. They sorta sound like a scuzzy garage-rock band doing ELO, and that’s a very fine thing. They incited a crazy dance party last year at the now-defunct Toy Eaters Space. You will dance around, for sure.
Zack Clark / The Steaming Pipe:
They brought the rock and the crowd returned full force with the dancing. It seemed like the crazier the band got (including the removal of shirts and full use of the stage) the crowd reciprocated in kind with more dancing and singing along. As far as their sound, FG is sort of like the Bee Gees on amphetamines. I have to stress the good Bee Gees. They have a one of a kind style that mixes dance with rock in a way I think gets everyone involved physically, if not emotionally as well.
Billy Gray / Ben Franklin:
DISCO ROCK FUNK AWESOME. Tight beats, heart-stopping pauses, mad funk style, karate-chopping guitar licks, and bonkers lead and harmony vocals. I’m not sure how else to describe their music. Listening to this debut record is like being at one of their shows, but you can make out every last glorious lyric, some of which are just inevitably lost in a live show. And I can’t thrash about quite so much in here.
Zac Clark / Jersey City Independent:
This chaotic quartet just put out a brand new CD, an eponymous album featuring ten songs of otherworldly funk-rock. …they combine their efforts in a relentless assault against all things not funky and awesome. Their sound is the sort of thing you’d hear in the background of Tarantino film set in the 1970s … or perhaps during the action sequence of a robot fighting a gang of rabid jackals. Their set was a straight up riot.
